As long as you aren't infected with a trojan it is probing for you really don't have to worry.

Do you know what port the attempts are made on? I see you firewall showing what IP the source is, but no mention of what port the intrusion is coming from or to. Find out what port the attempt was made on, do some research, and find out what services run on those ports.
This may not, and is probably not an attack on your computer. It could just be random scans, or traffic on the internet. If you are on dial up your IP changes all the time, on broadband it could change often as well. This could just be a computer trying to connect from a peer2peer service, whos IP it has in its cache. Just dont assume its an attack only because Norton says it is. If its annoying, get a router for its built in firewall, those notices will almost completely stop. Or call you IP, and they can filter the IP/ports of the computer making those attempts. All in all, its probably nothing. |

I use Zone Alarm Pro, I found it to be alot better then Nortons Firewall. Plus I believe you can adjust your settings so you dont see every single pop up too.

ZoneAlarm can tell you what pinged your comp and you can set it to disregard web noise. That's the "do not inform me of this type ..." button.
Always read the description though, you do want to informed about would- be hackers. |
