network share attacks
Hello..
I have a window xp home system and a windows 2k pro system with a netgear router... I want to share the folder on both pc's so I can swap files to and from but im worried about attacks.. If any one could get access to my shars, would they have to break past the router or should i put a filewall on each machine and that will protect it.. Im asking because my router just pretty much says what ports do you wana block or ip's and im used to the easy norton internet security... or do any of you have advie for me??? Thanks a bunch Ryan |

You are reasonably secure with a router because your machines don't have public IP addresses. Don't enable the guest accounts, require specific logons with strong passwords, change the default workgroup name, and that makes it even better.
