IP Address won't release with W98

One of my laptops has trouble releasing its IP address when it's shutdown and moved to another network.

The person using it has DSL at home and everytime he brings his laptop to the office I have to give it the ole C:\ipconfig /release_all and /renew_all command so it will pickup a new IP. Any solutions for this?

Thanks,
Wanabe

I'm typing this at the C:\ prompt. This is what I was trying to convey. The ipconfig command is working fine for me. The problem is that I have to do this every time for this person to connect to our network.

From a geek..he says

Pulling the power on your cablemodem for five minutes will generally give you a new IP (if the modem reboots properly, and if your ISP didn't track any illegal modem crashings without shutting them down first. Also they just might not give you an IP again. I mean, if you pull the plug it's like telling them to sod off. Instead of an IP, you might just get an evil lawyer at your front door. Or they could remote-detonate the modem and blow your four walls away. Or they might even pour napalm fluid down the cable and decimate the whole neighborhood.... So beware!!!)

Your network card should be doing this automatically since you set it to DHCP. but it isn't, an alternative would be to place the 2 commands under 'autoexec.bat' under c:\

Make him a batch file to release the IP, tell him to run it before he shuts down to bring it in.
