server types under connection settings

ok, so i'm trying to set up my internet connect on my new comp exactly like the one on THIS (has win98) comp, except, my new one is on XP. when i go to properties for dial up settings on the XP one, under server types, it doesn't list xp-only up to 2000. could this be why my connection won't work? -Reuben

Are U talking about the networking tab near the top where U have to pic the type of dial up server I am calling?? If so, then no that is not your problem as long as U leave that alone as PPP----Notice it says type of server I am CALLING and does not pertain to your PC that is calling from...And really the main thing is the protocol there which for the typical dial-up to the internet is PPP....
