Question networking help..

I have 2 win2000 servers running veritas storage replicator. They each have 2 1000 nic cards. I would like to connect them directly to one another to help reduce network traffic. I am going to try to use a crossover to wire them directly together. My question is, Do I use IP address from my current office network (example. 192.168.1.X) with the same subnet mask, or do I assign a totally different range for the IP (example. 10.1.1.X) to connect these two computers.

you can do it that way or you could connect the 2nd NIC's to the switch, create a VLAN (different IP subnet) for inter-server traffic, this would allow you to monitor and manage the traffic (if you are using a managed switch).
