Win98 and Network Printer Problems
I have an HP4500 with a JetDirect card that I have networked and I'm trying to make it available to our 98 clients.
I've attached a CAT5 cable form the printer to our switch and used the JetAdmin software to configure an IP. I've got this printer to work with 2000/XP clients but I'm not sure how to connect to the printer from a 98 client. BTW - The jetadmin software is installed on my XP workstation. This is where I configured the printer from. Thanks for your help. Wanabe |

It's pretty much the same on the W98 machines, go to printers and install the printer, or go to network neighborhood and find the printer there and I believe U right click it and install it or just left click it and it will prompt U to install it since W98 knows that printer is not yet installed...

There are 2 ways to do this - the fastest way is just share it on the server, then find it in Network Neighborhood, right click, install. The best way is run the printer install CD in the 98 machines, tell it that it's a network printer on a Jet Direct, and it will go out and find it. You should do the latter if you don't have a server on your network and are just running peer to peer workstations.
