So Mairvin

where do I get service pack 3? And should I just fdisk and format c:\ for 2047MB and then let NT create the rest? I have a 15GB hdd.

Thanks

Dave

Check here for service pack 5: http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nt...6redirect%3Dno .

If you are wanting NT to be the only OS on this machine you can do it that way. If you want to dual-boot NT and 98, load 98 first on a C: partition of 2GB. Once Windows 98 is up and running, you can just pop in the NT CD. It will start the setup and copy the files to your HD so you won't have to use the floppies. Once this is done, boot to NT (NT has a boot loader that gives you the option of NT or 98) install the service pack and then use disk administrator to set up the rest of your partitions. You can also use PartitionMagic to do this but don't use PartitonMagic in NT, use it in 98. Hope this helps clarify.

NT Installation

So I checked that site but still unsure as to which one to download. The closest one I see is for x86 computer. I have PIII 500. The files take about 4 hrs so I won't want to download the wrong files for 4hrs.

Thanks again

Dave

Yes, you have x86.

If you are going to bother downloading a service pack, get SP6a.

If you install NT original, then install IE5 or newer, and get an internet connection set up, you can get everything you need from Windows Update.
