Internet Connection Sharing on Win 2000 Server
Hi All,
I`ve got a Windows 2000 server with Internet Connection sharing enabled. The server has an ISDN connection to Demon Internet (UK based ISP) which it dials up with on demand dialing enabled. How do I get the terminals (a mixture of Win 2000 and Win 98) to share the connection? Last time I used ICS on Win XP and 98 you get a disk to put into the other terminals and set them up. Win 2000 server did not do that. Any help would be great. Thanks, Keith |

You should be able to set the TCP/IP properties on the clients to obtain IP automatically with DHCP and it should work.

Thanks. DHCP is enabled on the server, does this have to be on the clients as well?
I`ve set Internet Explorer to optain the address automatically, do we need to do this in the networking properties etc as well? Thanks again, Keith |

I've never tried using ICS on a 2K server, just Professional - but on Professional you share the internet connection and don't touch ANYTHING else. It sets the LAN-side NIC to 192.168.0.1 and turns it into a DHCP server. You set the clients to use DHCP in the TCP/IP properties on each NIC - and set IE to never dial a connection - and in LAN settings in IE, you uncheck all the boxes.
