Question Network XP temp freeze

Have introduced XP pro into 2000 domain, when xp opens a network drive for the first time through explorer it hangs as if trying to retrieve the info, then opens the folder for normal browsing. This however does not happen on win2k pro and affects drives mapped from the shares on the domain controller. I have tried everything I can think of to tune this (both in XP and on the domain controller) but have hit a brick wall. I would like to be able to stop this happening but do not know where else to look, however technical the answer maybe I really need your help.

On the Windows XP Machine, you may want to try this:

Go to My Network Places
Click on "View Network Connections"
Right click on your network adapter and choose Properties
Click on the TCP/IP Protocol and choose Properties
Click on the Advanced Button
Click on the WINS tab
Make sure the option Disable Netbios over TCP/IP is checked

Sometimes in the networking environment, if this is set to default, it will search for a Netbios connection and wait for that to timeout before it uses the TCP/IP connection. That could be the delay you are experiencing...

Fantastic, I have pushed out a registry setting now to the clients and it's worked! Was thinking of doing this via the DHCP server but need netbios for DOS network boot. Thank You!
