Don't like the looks of this.....
Hastening a rapid demise for the free copying of digital media, the next generation of hard disks is likely to come with copyright protection countermeasures built in.

I see this flying as far as the processor ID thing that was rumored a couple years back.

You can't have big brother without everyone playing along.

Intel and AMD would love to eliminate people from overclocking their processors as well, for instance, but Asus and Abit would cry foul, and the market would cringe.

Don't hold your breath on this one ever happening, IMHO.

Exclamation sounds like a bunch of BS to me

I see this idea crashing and burning there are so many flaws to mention...Like How will raid systems cope, what happens if you need to replace a hard drive, or upgrade.
Hay if it dose happen we can survive with 2nd hand hard drives from auction sites theres plenty to go around, but I wouldent go crazy and stock up like the whole y2k thing.

Even if it happens their will be crack before u know it and even the most law abiding citizens gone use it .So I don't see it ever becoming a standard.

and see the thing about M$ being against it? and all their OEM customers? that would mean compaq, dell, and many other big companies.

Now those companies comprise a huge part of the pc industry, so if they dont like it, then it will have to be changed.
