Local vs. Domain account
I was wondering if it is possible to synchronize local accounts with domain accounts in Windows XP. Eg. I sign on with the same username either locally (when not attached to the network) or on the domain and get the same settings (desktop, start menu, etc) And changes in one replicate to the other account? The computer is a laptop that I use on and off a network at home. Here is my setup:
I'm using a Linux box for my PDC. I do NOT have roaming profiles enabled, as I do not have the server capacity to handle roaming profiles. (And I do not have the patience to maintain them, I don't want roaming profiles) I pretty much only want to use the PDC for authentication. Because of this setup, when I log in on the domain with my windows xp laptop, I get a temporary profile that is deleted upon logoff since I do not have roaming profiles enabled. My local profile is untouched and still intact. Any help would be appreciated! |

The information to do that must be stored in one central place.
Look into "Tweak UI" it can quickly set your default profile directories to a location on a specific server. |

Tweak UI
I have experience with Tweak UI in the past. I just downloaded the newest version and I was tinkering around with it, but I'm not sure of the setting you speak of to accomplish this.
I saw the option that lets you relocate where your "special folders" are stored... However, I think moving the domain's "special folders" to point to the local user's folders would only get the local user's folders deleted upon logoff. Anything I do when I'm logged into the domain gets deleted when I log off because there's no roaming profile it uses a temporary profile for the duration of my login.... I'm hoping this wasn't the setting that you were referring to under Tweak UI and maybe I'm missing something.... Thanks! |

Poledit?
I don't think there is a Poledit for Windows XP... I had a look around on Microsoft's site and couldn't find any references to it...
