PC Card Modem

I have been having modem problems with my laptop, since I couldnt fix it I went into my stash and got my old PC Card modem. I didnt have the original piece that connects to the back of the card and the phone line so I used on from my other PC Card modem, (Since Im not using that one either) The CPU finds the modem and drivers but when it goes to connect it states no dial tone, I know that there is one but thats what it says. Why would this happen? Any Solutions, Remedies, Assistance, help.....etc.

Hello Lancefiles,
From what i'm reading here. Unless those two PC Card Modems are exactly alike, same make and model, that connector your using from one to the other, might fit, but might not be wired inside the same as the one you really need. I know thats not much help but you may be stuck trying to find the original connector to the modem your going to use. It kind of seems natural, no dial tone, no connection. sorry, good luck. Ulysses
