Netopia R6100 router configuration
Fellas and gals,
I have a client with DSL running a Netopia R6100 ADSL Router. No manual, no software, and I can't find diddly squat about this router on Google. 7 computers access the internet through the above mentioned router, as it has an 8 port hub on the back. It must also have a built in modem, because the DSL phone line plugs right into the back of the router. All computers can access the internet, no problem. But I can't get a LAN configured for the life of me. Machines are Windows 98 SE, and I went through all the regular stuff. Workgroup, computer name, and they already had IP addresses assigned by whoever installed the router in the first place. IP's like 192.168.77.1 and .2 etc. through 192.168.77.7. I'm guessing there has to be a utility that came with the router to configure LAN's? I have only worked with LinkSys up until now, so this Netopia thing is all new to me, although I figured it worked like the others. I did find the default IP for this router as 192.168.1.1, just like all of the LinkSys I have ever worked with. But I cannot ping that address from any of the workstations. What am I doing wrong? Anybody got any tips for me? How about info on this router? I really appreciate your responses. |
