What are some common employment opportunities relating to Internet security and PC security?

What are some good resources to learn about internet security and get some solid knowledge on the topic. Perhaps some books that cover the topics necessary for a solid understanding of internet security.

Also, are the security certifications a benefit? If so, what are the best ones?

I got my A+ cert, but am interested into the internet security arena for employment.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

and one of the highpoints was the security certifications from Symantec and others rating extremely high on the valuable to have meter.
