asking for password and ID over the network
I am running XP home. When I try to access my computer from another over the network I am prompt for a ID and password which I don't know. Any help will be appreicated.

You need to have an account with the name/password you log onto your computer with on the remote machine that you're connecting to on the network, the password prompt will go away.

I forgot to tell you that the user name is greyed out. I can't change the user name. Does that help you. And I did try creating a user account, which didn't work.

The easiest way around this is enable the guest account on the XP box. Note that this could have security issues.

I tried enabling the guest account, however, when I tried accessing my xp home from another computer on the network I get prompted with a box, saying that I don't have permission and I should contact the administrator.
