Need help setting up router with earthlink
I just recently signed up with earthlink dsl and they sent me an UPH DSL modem and I want to setup my home network. I am using windows xp on my computer. I do not know how to set this up. Can some help me in setting this up? I have a linksys wireless 4-port router model #Befw11s4 version .2. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

What I am going to tell you is unsupported by Earthlink, and they don't want you to do it, but you have to set the UHP modem to "bridge" mode (take it out of PPPoE mode) to use it with your own router. This will make it a dumb modem and all you have to do is set up the PPPoE in the router with your username and password. With the Broadmax, it's on the help tab, and (I don't remember exactly) I think Advanced.

Thanks for your help. I found where I could disable the PPPoE on the modem setup and now it is working.
