(probly simple) laptop wireless network prob

Having set up my wireless network last night, everything went absoloutly fine (ie 2 PC's hooked upto wireless router, and xbox via wire from the routers port), until it came to the laptop.
The laptop recognises theres a network, it says it gets a signal, and i can ping the router - however I can't get on the net for some reason.

Is there a really simple thing that i've missed here?

What OS do you have installed on the laptop?

Have you set your laptop to connect to the internet from the LAN connection? I don't think you have to set it with Windows XP, but I'm pretty sure I had to do it back in the Win 98 days. I'm not positive about the XP though, it's been a while since I've installed it and had to configure everything. If you do have to set it, it will probably be under Internet Explorer connection settings, you can just run the connection wizard from there.

Run ipconfig from the command line and make sure the router is giving you a gateway address (should be the router's IP address) and DNS server addresses. If it's not, you could try statically setting your IP address using the IP address of your router as the gateway address and getting the DNS server addresses from the router's configuration page or one of the working PC's.
