USB network?
is it possible to connect 2 computers to a network through USB ports? or just connect the 2 computers together through USB?

You'll need a USB sharing cable, but I fail to see why you'd bother. Connecting with a standard network connection is way more flexible.

USB is not networking capable, that's why you need that special cable, that it's expensive.
Better use LAN or Firewire. Firewire is networking capable, just use a firewire cable to connect both PCs. Also you need a software to run the firenet if you don't have WinXP. RJ
