For all of you Symantec Pirates.....

If anyone has pirated any anti-virus/firewall software...now is the time to get rid of it. Why you ask? Here is why, if you uninstall that, you will have no illegal software on you computer, and what's more, Microsoft and Computer Associates are offering free Anti-Virus/Firewalls software, a free 1 year subscription, retailing at $49.99. Check it out.

But you all have to pay after one year... It seems all antivirus software has its updates stop after a period of time

There is no guarantee that AVG will "always" be free - remember InoculateIT PE?

Yes, and I was an Inoculate It user. If my understanding is correct, ETrust is the successor to InoculatIt. I am currently using Etrust; my employer supplies it under their license. I have been satisfied with it for the year and a half I have been using it. So far, it has not missed anything (confirmed by Housecall) and it has a small footprint.

I just downloaded and installed AVG on my Win2K Pro machine and it threw it in a loop. I started the machine, logged on and then it would begin to start then shoot me back to a logon screen.

I thought Norton antivirus 4.x/5.x has updates that last like a life time. Not just some one year period. Mc afee is ok. Still getting updates. Don't tknow how long it will last

Even if you could still get updated signatures for Norton 4 or 5 (you can't), the engines are so old they would be ineffective against today's viruses, and would not likely be compatible with WinXP.

I finally got a chance to look at this combo... not sure about who the AV is like.. it looks familiar.. but the firewall is just ZA with the e-Trust name on it.

I don't know if it's the full blown Pro, but it has more options than the Free. I just set one up yesterday.

This is a GOOD package, folks - with the problems that NAV 2004 is having, I'm probably going to switch in February when my Norton subscription runs out.
