I'm looking for some freeware that can safeguard the entire contents of a folder from prying eyes. I've been using Norton Secret Stuff but it will only protect one file at a time and not an entire folder and its contents.
( Family spies on the home network!!) Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Thanks- most are 30 day shareware and I'm trying Data Cloak.
Why your disclaimer? You doubt their security is good? |

There are some freeware apps in there .. the disclaimer is that I've found nasty workarounds in a lot of these free/trialware security apps. Plus they are very bad at getting uninstalled.
PGP though good, has 2 drawbacks at present not very good in batch encryption, individual files are good but at batch they are cumbersome .. and worse .. have u ever seen the encrypted filesize vs original? To put it in perspective, here's what u should do that would work rather well . use something like WinACE or its worse performing cousin WinZip and compress the entire directory with a password, sure its not nearly on the fly decryption, but then again what is? |
