net slows after 5-10 minutes
help required why does my download/browser slow down to practically nil after 5-10 minutes I have cleared cookies spyware etc! any suggests welcome! running windows 2000 56k modem 128 memory 2.2 gig chip 20 gig hardrive.

Are you on dialup? Cable? DSL?
Okay, I see that you have a 56K modem. What is your ISP? Do you have connection software or are you using Dial-up Networking? Does this happen consistently, only when downloading, or what? |

Okay, I see that you have a 56K modem. What is your ISP? Do you have connection software or are you using Dial-up Networking? Does this happen consistently, only when downloading, or what? superanet.........no connection software.........dial up connection only......yes this happens consistently...........when browsing but worse on downloading though......its only all started in the last two months. we have ran defrag/scandisk/cookies deleted/history deleted. just don't know what to do next its driving me mad, strangely it seems OK when you log off and then back on????????????? |

I suspect that you haven't cleared all the spyware/malware from the computer. Do you have a firewall installed? If not, that's on the top of the list.
