MIA dialup after installed NIC
I don't think I'm destined to be a networking expert...because this is TWICE in the past few days that I've lost my dialup ISP connection on different computers. I fixed the first one, now another one on the soon-to-be network is screwed up (browser won't go to any websites, can't ping any servers, even the server the computer is supposedly connected to).
Here's what I did: 1. Installed a LinkSys LNE100TX NIC in the computer; 2. I noticed that the particular computer had the name "OEM Computer" under the Identification Tab in Network in Control Panel...so I changed the name to something more descriptive; 3. Rebooted... Since then, when I try to browse the web, the computer seems to dial and to connect to the ISP, but IE gives me a DNS error on every website I try to access. I'm running Win98SE, and there is no network yet; when I get sufficient ethernet cables, we're gonna try a home network and share our existing cable connection. I'd appreciate any help, as this situation that I somehow caused is INFURIATING!!!!! Thanks,
