Is this possible?

I have a Linksys wireless G router, a Linksys wireless G PCI card for my PC and a Linkys wireless G game bridge for my PS2. Now I have heard/read that instead of buying the game bridge I could have simply run an ethernet cable from the wired ethernet port on my PC, to the Ethernet port on my PS2's Network Adaptor. Would this work? Would they both be able to go online at the same time? Of course I hear this after I spend $100 on the game bridge. O well, I will still be glad I have it when I come home some weekends from college and want to play PS2 online, I would not be able to with this method since my computer is at school.
