Exclamation ICS or Router

okay guys here is my case .. am helping some one in deciding wether he should stay on ics or move to the router ,
he have 2 computers .. #1 son pc , #2 his pc both computers are fast and new and the #1 pc is shaering the internet connection wich is cable modem , the son uses his pc for muliplayer gaming ,lots of uploads and downloads , and browsing , this kinda stuf , the father uses his pc for web browsing ,emails , and uses lime wire to download few music , thats about it .. lets not ferget the conection gose from the modem to the son pc then to the father pc using crossover cable and windows ICS enabled ,, the only complain is the father pc 2 ,, get disconected if the son try to restart his pc wich is no big deal couz it dont happen alot ,, they were asking me if a router is a good idea to go for ,, but am not sure if its good couz we are only using 2 pcs , and maybe not worth all what we have to go thru configring the router and fire wall work good with the son activity ,.,, what do u guys think . ICS or router

Cool

Router without question.

If for nothing else, the hardware firewall it provides. With a always on connection such as cable a router is a must even for a 1 PC connection in my opinion.

Routers are cheap.
Routers provide security
A router means that both computers do not have to be on at the same time.
Routers can keep logs of internet sites visited.

Correction: SOME routers can log sites.
No matter. A router is definitely the way to go, and setting one up for online gaming/filesharing is NOT rocket science.

Routers also do not use system resources of the host machine like ICS does. Much faster, much better with a router.

ICS only makes sense for dialup. With broadband, a router is the only way to fly.
