Do I need a PCI Card...?

For a cable connection that will be wired--Do I need any type of PCI card to connect to the cable modem?

I have the Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB which has:

"The AI Series supports Gigabit LAN by integrating the 3COM 3C940 controller"

P4C800 Deluxe

There's a phone jack up near my audio in/out, usb ports, etc---is that where the cable modem connects?
Seems like a silly question, but.....

Thanx!

Also: Does anybody know if I would be better off getting a good card or using the Asus on-board controller?

No you do not need a PCI card.
That is not a phone jack, it is the LAN port where the Cat5 cable from the modem plugs in.
If the Network Device shows in the Device Manger in Windows all you will need to do is plug everything in. If it does not show you will need to go into the BIOS setup and enable it.

Great! Thanx!

I believe the LAN is turned off in the BIOS, and the only thing showing in DM is the 1394 network adapter. So, I'll go into the BIOS and check it out.

Cool

I just upgraded using a Asus with AMD and XP. I had to load the drivers from the mobo CD before my onboard NIC (LAN) worked.
