IP Virus
Is it possible that my IP connection is infected with a virus? I had a virus problem so I erased everything and restarted my computer so the virus would go away since I couldn't fix it. After about 2days, the virus (probably the same one) came back. I have a pretty good amount of antivirus programs and I updated all of my security patches from microsoft but I'm still getting infected. I'm thinking the problem originates from my connection itself, not the computer because my cable connection keeps turning off and is sometimes slow and suspiciously busy all the time with the data light blinking 24/7 whether I'm using the internet or not. Then those damn popup things keep on attacking me. Or maybe the my OS is the problem.. What should I do?

You might have re-installed an infected program, thereby reinfecting yourself. I would scan yourself online with housecall, check what programs are starting up, and diable the "messanger" service. Im guessing you have XP, right?

It isn't uncommon for the Cable Activity light to flash all the time.
It is possible that the virus is in the system restore files. In XP go to the System Window (Press the Windows key and the Pause/Break key at the same time) Go to the System Restore Tab and turn off System Restore. This will delete all the Restore Files. Then you can turn it back on. |
