I used to use Norton; have since uninstalled it and run AVG Pro version on the three computers at home. At work we use McAfee [It must be cheaper]

I use PC-Cillin too. It came with my motherboard software so I used it for a year then bought the new version off of the internet. I was suprised when I installed it because it now comes with a firewall, adware remover, pop up blocker, anti-spam tool, along with the virus protection. I love it but I still keep my Zone Alarm Pro firewall on because it works better, gives me more options, and I still have one year on my license left.

In addition to antivirus software, see if your ISP offers server side email virus scanning. Earthlink just started offering it free of charge and this is a big plus. I have all my e-mail addresses forwarded through my Earthlink account now.

I now have ports 25,110 and 139 blocked on all windows machines at home, so i'm not too concerned about viruses anymore.

for those who don't know, port 25 is for SMTP (sending emails), port 110 is for POP3 (receiving emails), and port 139 is for NetBIOS, Windows uses this port for file sharing.

Has anyone tried the NEW ZoneAlarm Security Suite v5.0.590.043 yet? It has both Vet Anti-Virus & Zone Alarm firewall all in one app.

AVG. I have always run it and I have NEVER had a virus on any of my computers. I have come close a few times but AVG recognized as soon as the infected file was put on the hard drive.

Exact same situation here...though I still use TrendMicro OfficeScan NT, I use NOD32 on my desktop, and it's showing itself as one of the most effective one I've ever used.

I got nod32 on the recommendation of several board members here and I am very happy with it. Why just last night I was somewhere on the web I probably shouldn't have been and it caught one of those nasty little viri....
