Family wireless network
I am thinking of setting up a wireless network for our family. Our houses are about 400 feet apart. I have DSL and am willing to share my bandwidth with them. The problem is the distance. Does anybody have any suggestions on hardware. I guess I will need a repeater that can be installed in a weatherproof housing. I am thinking 802.11G with WEP for security
Thanks |

Do you have line of sight with their house? Otherwise a wireless setup proably won't work.
If you do have line of sight you should use a directional antenna, or build one yourself. |

If you have a wireless router in your home and they have a wireless card in their pc with a detachable antenna you can use
a cantenna - http://cantenna.com/ on each end Or if they have several computers a repeater with the cantenna will work. you must ne able to pretty much see one antenna from another. |
