Why do you want to share the ProgramFiles directory ? You gotta install all the programs again on your new PC anyway.

But some of those programs put stuff in the registry and if you tranfer just the files, the programs might not run, usually it doesnt ever run, so you would have to reinstall anyway. Also some of those programs put some files somewhere in the windows folder, which without them you cant run the progs anyway.

I know I have thingies like Visual Basic & Some C compilers in Program Files, and I want to copy all my programs over... I could copy from Program Files to somewhere else, but I'm too lazy to do that for each of the progs :P

If we are dealing with XP here, just disable simple file sharing and share the whole drive.

Why don't you just pull the hard drive and slave it into the new machine temporarily? The IDE bus will copy files a lot faster than any network cable.

(2) Thats what I'm prolly goning to do, but I will have 3 drives (2HD 1CD/DVD) in the new comp, and there are 2HDs in the old one (have to do some swapping)... And I'm lazy, but that seems like the only thing that I can do
