Agreed with Panama Red. Also, a good free online scan service is House Call which is by TrendMicro. It uses the same virus scanning as the OfficeScan NT and the PC-Cillin.
Hope that helps, kram

Are you inquiring about a virus scanning program or an Anti-Virus program? |

Try nod32, they have a 30 day trial.

Not necessarily a resource hog - it's not as bad as Norton, but it's not a very good scanner - AVG does a better job.

NOD32 is very effective and it might change your mind on whether you should pay for a AV. But first, I would try AVG, though. I have NOD32 on my Win98SE and am trying to get Kerio Firewall if it come necessary. Norton is a big resource hogger, but NOD32 not at all.
Hope that helps, kram |

Had to re-intsall? Why? Although I will add my disclaimer, NAV 2004 is garbage... I've had nothing but trouble with it with customers systems... never a glitch with 2003.

Stuff like live update not seeing any of my symantec programs, norton telling me my subscription is not installed(!?) and some other stuff, cant remember it all, it was a while ago. Also the tech support told me I had to go and remove all kinds of files that norton left behind before reinstalling(all stuff it should have removed) And dont get me started on the recourse hogging.

Ahh, the invasion of relatively unknown AVs with the fall of Norton and McAfee
. I think NOD32 is the leader of them, as well as TrendMicro's PC-Cillin.kram |

I've been using AVG (free version) for several years and it seems to work OK.

It's amazing how AVG can keep running with almost everyone using the free version - it's always updating its databases and it is always getting better.
