Question Win2K System - Internet Access Disabled?

Dear Forum-

Ok, here is my new crusade.

Recently my employer just updated our ONE office computer from Win98FE to Windows 2000. (hooray..sigh)

I'm currently on midnight shift and I needed to access the NADA site to find the value of a vehicle for one of my reports.

Unfortunately, when they upgraded to Windows 2000, internet access was disabled on that computer. A little annoying.

All the other systems work fine(secretary and sgt's) and I can use a Knoppix or Damn Small Linux distro and connect to the internet just fine; however, we are without access using Windows.

I can still access everything on the LAN, other areas, etc. Just not the net.

I've also eliminated the possibility that it's just our user profile that is locked out. I've tried logging in with the secretary's profile...same deal, no internet from that system.

The odd thing is that we can run DMV transcripts, and some other software that uses the network without any problems.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I belive you will need to make contact with the IT guy and present the problem to him as we should not give any advice to the way to bypass his security settings in that system,
I feel that it was set up that way for a reason.

and I am sure he knows how to handel the problem for you.

Well, thanks.

Possibly the DHCP Client is disabled?
