networking problem..plz help

hey there. i bought a router recently strictly to have internet access in my room, got it all hooked..well, my brother in law did and had to leave shortly after we got the message "internet explorer cannot open search page" error, neither of us could figure out why or how to fix it. when it comes to the messing around with anything that has to do with the internet i'm clueless. this computer seems to be fine but my other one is having the problem so any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the Make and Model of the Router?

What are the operating systems on the computers connected to the router?

Sorry for the delayed response, got kinda busy around here.

the Router is a D-link AirPlus XtremeG DI-624
the card however, i believe is a a bit different, D-link airplus xtremeG DWL-G520..not sure if that makes a difference, the guy at radioshack along with my brother in law said it's fine. my pc that i now have in my room is running win XP and my mothers is running win 98 SE.
