cant see other computers on network

hello....my network was great until i just went to grab some files from my old computer that is now in my brothers room....i cant see any of the other computers on my network.

i am running windows xp and the other two computers in the network are running 98....sharing internet is no problem....but i cant seem to find any of the others....i ran the network setup wizard but that didnt seem to help either....any ideas??

I often have this problem too, and I run mine off a LAN... usually I just leave it 30 minutes and try again, and it's there

XP does have that firewall that needs to be turned off. Do I read you correctly though in that you were able to access all PC's at one point but now you can't.. Is workgroup name all the same and check each PC again to be sure there is something shared on the PC..

was never able (to my knowledge) to access the other computers...only thing so far that is shared on this network is the internet....i can get online....but i cant connect to the other computers p2p

Sounds like they aren't all set to the same Workgroup name. I'd check that first.

right, all systems on a p2p network must be in the same workgroup and using the proper protocalls in the nic setup.
and there also must be shareing enabled, and something has to be shared
