Laptop suddenly wont work on network

I have a Speedtouch 510 router with 2 PC's and a laptop on. A week ago everything was working fine, but now suddenly, the laptop wont work on the network

Ive tried to different cables, both dont work. When the cables are plugged in, on the router, sometimes the lights which show the activity are always fully on, but sometimes are both off.

The laptop constantly always says that the LAN is enabled, even when no cable is plugged in.

Please help. thanks

Since you have tried another network cable, it sounds like either the NIC card on the laptop has went bad or the port on the router Probably the NIC card though, but try a different port just to be sure. Yes the LAN is enabled, but is it showing connected or disconnected when you have it plugged in?? What model make laptop, and is it built in NIC port on the laptop, or PCMCIA card??

er, yep - it always says connected. The NIC is a built-in port.

The make is: Mesh
Model: 8880

Did you try different port on router?? Most likely though is that the NIC has went bad on the laptop, but you should have PCMCIA slots on it and you can get one of those for the laptop..

You can try Removing the nic in Device Manager and letting Windows find it again on reboot. That reloads the driver. Just corrected a desktop at work that way.
