Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)

By the way, since you mentioned Microsoft's spyware remover software, here is the link as a reference for those that may be interested,

Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)

I have already tried it and it seems to be quite good although it is still at experimental stage;
it can be downloaded at no charge;
This is a pre-release (beta) software;
A commercial version may be available in the next few months.

Eeek Norton... While in your case it seems to be working just fine, you could free up system resources and stop paying for an average AV and firewall and go with the FREE combo of ZoneAlarm and Avast or ZoneAlarm and AVG (both very good combinations - which I think provide much better security than Norton).

AVG is really no better than any of the top three pay antivirus programs, its just free. Google any review of antivirus programs, AVG is never on top.

I agree with you. It would be nice to be able to have to onboard your computer at the same time but they will fight with each other, kind of like two fire walls at the same time.

If your really paranoid about viruses, adware, spyware, ect... you might also want to look into one of the RootKit detectors. Rootkits give malware stealthness-files, registry entries, processes can all be hidden from the users view.

I will check into Rootkits. If every body on the net were a little paranoid , alot of trash would not spread over the net so quick and in such volumn

If you decide by merely reading reviews, then you're missing the point.

I read a review recently of customer satisfaction on home heating furnaces. I know this business because I was in it for 30 years. They rated the 90-percent efficiency natural gas heating furnaces as top in customer satisfaction. I know this to be false because I've been dealing in the biz for so long. I've had to remove hundreds of these systems from customer homes because of dis-satisfaction. The question is: who did they survey to get these results?

Try listening to those who regularly clean customer machines every day. I've read the reviews of AV programs. My reason for using AVG is because it IS better than most AV programs. I know this by using it as tool every day and keeping track of the history of my customers who use it (as opposed to others who use Norton, McAfee, etc). It regularly removes malware from machines that scan clean with other programs. It keeps a network of seven or more systems here in my shop running clean all the time. No, I don't own stock in Grisoft, I've just tried most every AV I can get my hands on and this one works.
