Ethernet Cable Type?

What is the real difference between Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 ethernet cable.........and does snagless only mean that it wont tangle?

I believe snagless refers to the connectors on the ends of the cables.

One of the differences between the cables is the twist per foot of the wires inside the jacket

Cat 5e and 6 are the same cables with higher standards set for them. (6 being the newest and highest standard patch cable).

Since all cables get up to (at least) 100mbs a second it shouldnt matter to you unless you have a gigabit lan (cards and router) or you're using really long cables like 25ft+. Even then it probably won't matter much. Most of todays hubs, routers, nics top off at 100Mbs still.

A regular cat 5 cable will usually work just as well and theres a significant price difference. Id only go with a cat5e or 6 cable if I was setting up a gigabit lan (I dont think cat 5 was designed to handle gigabit speeds).
