Firewalls
Hi All,
Althou I have networked 4 pc's to share a dsl connection (3 are wireless) I need to learn more about firewalls as my DLINK 624 has one built in and I would like to configure it properly. Is there a web site that can explain how these router's work including what all the ports do. Thanks |

Hi,
You may be able to find how to configure your inbuilt firewall by going onto the DLINK site and www.dlink.com and look under products. |

After a quick google I found this, http://computer.howstuffworks.com/firewall.htm it does not explain the difference between hardware and software (I think, only had a quick glance) but it looked like a good starting point.

The firewall will work once the router is turned on.
If you need to configure anything, you will need to find out the router ip address, connct to it with a password and change whatever you need in the settings. i believe the ip address is 192.168.0.1 and leave the password blank |
