I have a laptop and a desktop, and I'd like to map their drives together so that when I'm at home I can transfer stuff between them. When I go to share a hard drive, it seems to want to open it up on the network without letting me specify who (or what computers) can mess with it. But this is the only way that I can map it as a network drive from my other computer.
My systems' specs are listed below (both are running xp pro.) Also, my desktop is on a wired router, while my laptop is on a wireless router (I live in a house with 7 other people.) This is because I don't want to have to plug my laptop in everytime I get home and use it. Can anyone let me know how to set this up seamlessly? XP filesharing and drive mapping seems really clunky at best to me.

Go to folder options, view - and disable simple filesharing. This will set it just like WinNT/2K where you can customize permissions and add users and passwords to the user manager, etc.
