It's time for us all to write our democratic senators & Congressmen & women & tell them it's time for Gore to stop this mess. He has lost 3 times now & Florida has declared Bush the winner. Bush has to have time to get ready to take over for all of our welfare. My Feelings & I have done my part.

What's wrong with counting all the votes when the current margin is only 537 out of almost 6 million? If Bush took office under these circumstances, his would be a bastard presidency.

There has to be an end. There are millions of votes over the USA that was not counted. Gore is still fighting the counting of the rest of the military ballots so that shows where he is coming from. Lets put the pressure on for them to move on. If any one needs to know how to send them email post back & let me know. I will post the info.

Uncounted votes in the other states are not at issue under the Electoral College system. Gore received over 50 million votes nationally, 300,000 more than Bush.

Florida is the important state. Why promulgate the falsehood that Gore is resisting a counting of the valid overseas ballots? He has publicly called for them to be counted. His legal team has not opposed any of the suits brought by Bush to count those votes. Most of them are in fact being recounted. The glaring question that the Republicans can’t or won’t answer is why Bush is resisting the counting of ALL the ballots?

Heavy emphasis on the ALL. All to Gore means 4 democratic counties. His strategy was a good one on the absentee ballots. First he would get his people to deny the votes. Then he would say how wrong this was. Of course, he is not going to challenge the lawsuits. He would lose more than the lawsuit.

clydefo I understand where you are coming from but in fact it was on the news yesterday that Gores laywers were still trying to get the countie boards not to count the Military ballots. Your right though some have done so but not all.
If you think about it in an unbiased mode you can see Gore is just trying to find votes for him not for Bush. He doesn't want Bush votes counted so he is not for counting all votes.
The 300,000 votes Gore is ahead in the poplar vote came out of New York state alone so you could say Bush won that in all the other states together?

The votes have been counted twice already. With 6 million votes, you're going to get a different number each time you count and given the small lead Bush has, it's quite possible that one count will give a lead to Gore. If Gore had won by a few hundred after the first count, he would be fighting a recount too.

So, lets say that this third count gives Gore an edge of 100 votes, would Gore then suggest a fourth recount b/c it was so close? I doubt it. He'd start screaming that he was the legitimate winner, so there is no need for another recount, just like Bush.

w1che,
The only absentee ballots that Gore doesn’t want included are those that are invalid for reasons other than the postmark issue. Allowing unsigned, unwitnessed or non-registered absentee ballots has invited fraud in the past so Florida recently tightened their rules. Gore has suggested a statewide recount as a solution, Bush rejected that. Why?

troysvihl,
I think we agree that the machine count is within a mechanical margin of error; statistically a dead heat. As has been done all over the USA traditionally, a hand count is the only thing that can resolve it. Even though Bush never requested any counties be recounted, at this point the Contest lawsuit judge should order a recount in any county requested by either candidate. What could be fairer than that? What is the hurry? We’ve got two weeks before Dec 12th when the Electors are picked.

despite the disinformation diseminated by the Dems in this mess, handcounts aren't any more accurate than machine counts clydefo. so each handcount is going to give a different result too. gore is just trying to get a result he likes, then he'll want to stop any further recounts.

It's the equivalent of little kids that try to decide something with rock-paper-scissors but when they don't like the outcome they say, "OK, best out of three....OK, best out of five..."
