Cool Backing up Hard Drive

I want to back up my hard drive. I want to do it in four phrases. The first is using an external hard drive. The second is using a software back up, such as Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 which is a heavy-duty backup and restore program that performs almost file-storage and rescue. The third phase is to use an imaging software program i.e. Ghost 10, Acronis True Image software. The last phase would be to do online back up concerning file storage, such as Carbonite and another on line back up program I read good things about is called Jungle disk. Any input I can get would be appreciated. I know it seems extreme but backing up my data is very important and I don't believe using only one method of doing this is the best way to go about it. That's why my approach is the four phase method.

Thanks:

I am not sure of the nature and sensitivity of your data, but I have found that backing up data can be quite easy.

I do alot of programming and assignments for college that I would NEVER want to lose. I do not use imaging or online backup. I believe that Imaging is great if you need to preserve your OS for some reason. I keep all my programs and OS installation disks if I need them. I do not use online services as I do not have much trust in computers that I do not control.

My backup scheme is as follows I have 2 hard drives in a mirroring array (RAID 1). I have a network Storage Drive(alerts me if something is wrong with it). I also Regularly Burn CD's/DVD's of data if I feel that I need a hard copy that will last for a while.

I am not sure if that helps you at all, but that is how I operate at my home. I have never lost data this way. Even if both of my hard drives fail, I can start over and download my files off of the NAS.

Just a thought,

I did want to say that If you want to go with those 4 phases, I do not think that is a bad idea. That was not my intention. I just wanted to say that the way I operate at home may cause less headaches. And that would have 3 areas of redundancy. Also you could use rewritable disks to save money If you copy alot of the same data(I have some DVD's that are for certain folders)
