OK, I'm experiencing a strange problem. I put together a home network using a Linksys router. Most of the house is wired but there are two wireless laptops. The printer is an HP Photosmart with LAN. I connected the printer to the network. The first wired PC connects flawlessly. The two wireless PC's see the printer and load the software but when the computer reboots after install there is no printer installed. I turned off antivirus during install. Any thoughts on what I may have forgotten?

I would recommend you set the printer to static IP and install it that way. If your Linksys is running at factory defaults, set the IP to 192.168.1.200, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.1.
When you install the printer, install it the same way, butlet it install it by numbered IP, not by printer name. The IP can usually be set through the printer front panel menus. |
