I recently let a friend borrow a old dell 4400 I have as a backup rig to use till they got their laptop. They told me they had a prob with it so I was not surprised. When Windows is loading a Blue Screen appears with following message: STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Check Sum} The image USER ENV.dll is possibly corrupt. The Header checksum does not match computed checksum. Windows XP is the OS on this computer. I had a copy of XP, but don't know if its the right one for that computer. Tried to run windows diag. check, but don't know the admin. password. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. Last edited by rgtomn; 01-27-2009 at 02:27 AM. Reason: wrong term |

Any Dell operating system CD can be used to reload Windows. However, to reinstall drivers, you will need the correct "Resource CD" for that machine, or you can download them from Dell.
You can run hardware diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup. If the machine was built after 7/2004 you can also reinstall everything without a CD by pressing Ctrl+F11 at startup. |
