Hi.. the last PCMech tip re registering Domain names. Where's best place to do it? What is standard initial and maintenance cost?

There is no "best" place, but I use Godaddy.com. It should be less than 10 bucks a year.

I registered 4 domains on GoDaddy.com last week. I took the hint and registered my name and nicks that I use often online.

I used a local service that was $6 a month. They have a slick look to there site but they have problems every now and then. Not to long ago my email was down for a month because they switched to a vendor that made sub-standard servers. They credited me for the time lost.
I am happy what I get for the price, the hidden taxes being occasional drops in service, I don't use it for business. Make sure you take a look at tech support forums on their site and see if anyone who uses there service will talk about their experiences. Otherwise go with a name brand service. |

I think he is referring to domain registration, not hosting.
