Intro + specific problem
Hi everyone,
I'm a professional poker player and my job relies on my computer running smoothly, which it hasn't lately. I'm here in hopes of getting some help, mainly with stuff like my aging PC and some AHK script problems. I've had problems with my accounts here, and have twice now had to make a new account. I formerly had the names ChuckTs and ChuckTs2 here. I actually got help building my rig here: Lookin to build a system!, and the thread obv includes my specs. This is what the setup looks like now (I know, I have a wire problem...):http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/6112/img1098hn7.jpg *** Most recently my PC has been buggy as hell and it's frustrating the (edited by admin) out of me. It got choppy while playing COD world at war which previously was running smooth, and lately it's been crashing sporadically and I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem. I've also been experiencing random bugs that I'll list below too. I got help from a friend on the choppiness problem, and he had me run disk check on both my drives (seagate 320gb and seagate 500gb I believe), run defrag several times, install Avira Antivirus and run several scans, and as an aside I also updated windows ("software distribution service 3.0). Nothing showed up for any of the scans or disk checks or anything except for some minor stuff that Avira found and quarantined. Now after the choppiness, I've had problems with several programs. For one, a script I use called The Opener started closing automatically. Then when I started it back up, everything was jumbled and it kept closing when I tried to reconfigure it. Error two is that any time I try to open either hard drive in My Computer, it gives me the error: "Can not find script file "C:\ubanka.vbs"." I have no idea what that means. I can however get into my HD if I open another folder and navigate through it. I had another problem with a poker program but I've contacted the publisher about that. Any thoughts on my problems I'm having? What do you think the choppiness is from? The crashes? Can you guys help me with the scripts (which I've tried reinstalling btw)? Problem with my HDs? Thanks in advance. Last edited by glc; 02-11-2009 at 09:00 PM. |

Chuck, a few admin notes.
1. We do not allow more than one account per user. If you have an account issue, you need to contact us to fix it, not keep opening accounts. I have merged your 3 accounts. 2. Please do not post large inline images. I converted yours to a link. 3. Please do not use vulgar language. With that over, I think the first thing you need to do is download Malwarebytes and scan your computer in safe mode. That .vbs file is evidence of malware. A single antivirus can't pick up everything, you need to use multiple scanners to get rid of nasties. You are welcome to post a HijackThis log, but you MUST follow the procedures in the sticky thread in the Security forum first. |

Sorry about all that
Thanks for fixing my accounts problem.Yeah, my friend suggested scanning with malwarebytes, and figured that the vbs file was the problem. He says there's something in my registry that this link will fix. Going to do that now and see if it helps. He's also suggesting that I may have to reinstall windows if it doesn't work? edit: this is the log from the malwarebytes scan: Quote:

Still having a boatload of problems. My friend suggested to burn an ultimate boot cd with all types of diagnostics apps on it. I've been running a bunch of them (ram test, cpu stress test, disk checks, as well as scanning with antivirus) but have still yet to find anything wrong.
Another problem that's popped up is that my PC reboots itself after showing like a millisecond flash of a blue screen error, which I can't read. This seems to happen when I'm running several apps at a time (firefox, itunes, and my poker apps). It's absolutely imperative that I fix this asap; this has already happened twice while I've been working and thankfully it hasn't been disastrous yet, but it easily could be. I have the money to buy a whole new PC, but I think it would be a waste to do so if I could solve everything with a simple fix, or just replace one component on my PC. I really need some help here and would greatly appreciate it. I can provide any info needed, just let me know. |

Control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery. Uncheck restart on error. The bluescreen will freeze, read it. Google the stop error code.
You have a Windows issue. You may be best off reformatting and starting fresh. |

Will do with the error code next time it pops up.
I've lost my original windows xp cd; my friend has suggested some ways of finding my registration code with some apps, but so far nothing has worked. Any advice there? I don't mind buying a new oem copy but I'd rather save the $100. thanks |
