You'll find lots of threads about Vista if you do a forum search.

Examples include: "Biggest Vista Complaint": Biggest Vista Complaint?
and "Whats all this bashing Vista?": Whats all this bashing Vista?

Keep in mind of course that dated threads might bring up issues that have been fixed.

Try the Windows 7 Beta; in the first hour of using W7 I hated both Vista and XP. XP, for it's lengthy install, and Vista, because, despite SP1, the performance still lags.
Windows 7 installed in 15 minutes and takes only 15 seconds to boot. It is still a beta, but even battlefield 1942 loaded faster with Windows 7.

LOL

here we go again...

vista service pack 2 and still the same bloated pos that it always has and will be. people will run out and buy it so bill gates can recover some of his huge losses.

the public deserves better

I was fooled once but not again... I downloaded and I was impressed in the beginning but it was more of the same after about two hours. poop is all i can say.. worse than WindowsME.

Linux is awesome, I am currently trying to learn to port whatever games I play on Win to Ubuntu but windows 7 wowed me on performance. Performance is all I care about and installing fast and booting fast is the main thing I care about. The fact that BF 1942 SW loaded faster than XP or Vista on the exact same machine is the cherry on this OS pie. I tried loading BF 1942 SW on a machine with XP and better specs and it was slower than the W7 load time.
One last thing, it still uses a lot of memory but not as much as Vista (1+ GB). I think it was just under 800 MB, will need to double check.

I see your point, I just have a hard time with the whole "buy another version" (7 or 8 choices) of windows when it is really just a fixed version of Vista. Good luck with the porting, if successful, you will be a valuable addition to the Linux community.
