Ex HD Problem

I have 2 Phantom external HD's (junk) that will not spin. One of them makes a light clicking noise that sounds like it is trying to spin. I am wondering if removing them from the case and connecting them to my USB HD adapter will make any difference. I recall seeing someone recommend putting them into a refrigerator freezer overnight. Anyone have experience with this? That is it for me, no more external HD's, they are not reliable.

That is why we recommend you build your own external hard drives.

Your only chance to recover data is to bust them open and try your other USB adapter. This will void your warranty.
