PCMech Host?
I was just curious what hosting PC Mech is using? I am looking to start a site that will use the latest vbulletin release and the blog software. There are just so many of them I'm just not sure which I should choice.

Pair. Another similar one is Rackspace. Both are quite expensive.
I would reccommend surpasshosting. Their prices are reasonable, and the support is pretty good.

Does it matter if it's Linux or Windows based? I have more experience with Windows. What does a typical site require for space? I would assume 500GB would be just fine.
Does Surpass have Windows based solutions or is it all Linux. I didn't see anywhere about it. |

vBulletin requires PHP and MySQL, and I believe you are only going to get those on a Linux/Unix hosting package.

While I am using surpasshosting (reseller accnt) for purely personal stuff .. and the prices are low .. their performance leaves a LOT to be desired. So be careful about that if you're looking for anything high volume or resource intensive like vb and extensive mysql.

Whats the difference between have a Linux host and Windows host? Is it hard to use a Linux host with not much experience? Right now I'm looking at Hostgator. Anyone have experience with them?

Almost everything you do on a host is done through a control panel and FTP.
