Mobo Question
Hi,
I am fairly new here and joined PC mech to gain access to building a PC information. So far I have learned much more than that and would strongly endorse your site - THX! This weekend I will be building my first PC. I'm fairly competant with an undergrad engineering degree and many, many years experience in the technical field (aerospace). I have read may articles, watched the videos and browsed through most of the manuals available for the components I will be using for the build. However, I am stumped by the following: I have purchased a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R mobo. (see the following thread for all the components Here it is .... ) What is the ATX_12V_2X4 connector on the Mobo used for? ![]() I am sure I will have other questions throughout the weekend! |

Thx - PSU?
Thank you, so I should have a connection coming off of the PSU that I connect to it?
For some reason, I thought I saw somewhere that it was optional - is that correct? |

Connecting all 8 pins is optional with a dual core, but highly recommended. You need at LEAST 4 pins connected.
