? Dumb question? Do I need to load the motherboard "support DVD"?
OK, started with one 'slightly used' computer, building a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).
I've been doing my best to be a "good grasshopper", and reading waaayyy too much Google results about optimizing for audio work, etc - so my brain is tired - and so am I.
So, anyway, mobo is an Asus P5KPL-CM, Dual Core, etc. Since there was no XP COA included, I went ahead and purchased a fresh OEM XP Home, and reformatted and installed yesterday. Everything (the basics) seem to be running fine. I have yet to install the second SATA HD, then the PCI E-MU 1616m interface...
QUESTION: Since I reformatted the primary HD, and reinstalled XP, do I need to reinstall what ever is on this "Intel G31 Chipset Support DVD" that came with the Motherboard?
And if I do, is it going to ask me a list of what I want to install, and what I don't?
I'm simply thinking keep the system as simple as possible, as it will ONLY be used for recording - but... These are system basics I'll need installed regardless???
Thanks, G
