Realy, REALLY bright LEDs

Apart from disconnecting the mobo connectors, or covering with tape, is there any way to reduce the brightness of Case and HDD LEDs? The HTPC in my sig has exceptionally bright LEDs, which are bit of a distraction if we're trying to watch TV etc. It's even worse when it hits sleep mode, as it blinks and is even more distracting.

Go to Radio Shack and buy some dimmer LCD's or buy some smoke colored semi-transparent film and put it over the existing LCD's. Unfortunately, putting a resistor in series with an LCD will not dim it down. LCD's go out completely when dropped below a specific voltage level.

Maybe even dabbing it with a black Sharpee might work? Experiment with a Dry- Erase first.

This may sound kind of simple buty for front LED's you might try using a black sharpie, or a grease pencil.

Might just try to get a different case if you have to replace a Power Supply.

Sorry guys, but what's a Sharpee? You mean a black marker pen?

Or paper. Cut to shape and taped over the LEDs. White paper to diffuse the light ( a gentle glow instead of a sharp beam). Or darker colors to cut the brightness way down.
Also dark tape like electrical tape, with a pinhole or 2 in it.
